From Flop to Success – The day no one signed up
It was fascinating. I had the Receiving Retreat on Saturday. And it wasn’t anything like I’d imagined it would be when I initially planned it.
You see, no one signed up. Even though the energy said to do it. Even though the astrologer said to do it. Even though.... You get the picture. Apparently, I forgot to factor in the end of year school schedules.
I teach to not let other’s reality become your reality by being high vibe.
So, what happened? I set the intention, played with the energy, and did my part. I prepared for the retreat, posted ads, sent out letters, changed the ads, paid for ads, rented space, and more. I wasn’t sure what else was possible.
That is until about three weeks before the big day. Then I started asking, “What else is possible?”
The idea to record the day popped in. With no people? The more I thought about it, the more excited I became. I had two courses in the hopper that were written out and I hadn’t “found the time” to record them. In truth, the energy hadn’t popped yet. The idea floated in. Shift the day to recording the courses.
I switched gears. I spent hours rewriting the scripts into bullet point notes, expanding what I’d planned on teaching, dividing each segment into small video lengths. (And now I have an outline for a new book.)
I called a few friends to be my audience, because I love teaching in front of people vs. to black screens on Zoom. We trouped over to the community center, dragging all the props and the art supplies for the planned art project to help cement the concepts. I even hired a professional videographer.
And so, the day began, although it didn’t turn out quite as smoothly as I’d imagined. As we began, I asked my friend to take a picture of the set up...just in case. It was a good thing as we needed it.
We got through a few videos with ease. Then things changed. We still hadn’t factored in the end of year activities. Namely the dance recital happening right below us, music vibrating the floor and invading our ear drums. I thought it was funny and was in stiches. (So glad for my high vibe outlook.)
At first, we thought it was just a rehearsal and we could record between songs. Nope. That plan had to change. Thus, I tracked down the janitor, and we transferred to the art room. To look at it, it was an art room complete with concrete floor and paint splotches. But it was quiet, especially when the doors were closed. And I hadn’t noticed how chaotic the energy was in the other room until we were in a coherent space. Improvement.
As we started recording, a dog barked – a lot. After laughing yet again, I went to the window and sent love to the dog. The barking stopped and we continued.
After a long day of recording, we were done. Although, we are saving the art project and instructions for another day.
Then it dawned on me. Over a year ago, when I’d tested the energy about when I’d be doing the course, I got May. I’d meant last May. The Universe meant this May and then set it up. I followed the energy and didn’t stress about not doing it last year. This year, it was as if the Universe said, “Here you go.”
One thing I did learn was that when you put the camera in the front row, everyone else in the room gets unnaturally quiet. In the future, the camera will be behind people, as I like interacting with the group.
And while it doesn’t seem that everything fell into place, it did – just in a different way than I’d imagined. Is it better? I’m not sure yet. Although, it is unique as it’s not done in a studio. And I’m not just staring into a camera as I talk, since I’m teaching my friends. And astrologically, this is a good time to get the word out. So, maybe it will be even better than I ever imagined and just don’t realize it yet.
I’m glad that I did it, and that it’s not sterile perfect. It gave me many opportunities to demonstrate the different approach between a low vibe reality (force and complaining) and a high vibe reality (power, ease, and laughter). I kept switching things up with ease every time an “issue” popped up – and I was still high vibe throughout the process.
All in all, I call it a win. And it’s still fascinating that when you follow the energy while being high vibe, things can happen easily without stress. (I still plan on having more receiving retreats. Although, I’ll know to ask what else is going on in the building.)
It was a good day – and I know the videos will be also, even though they are different than other on-line teachers. They’ll soon be done and available for sale. I know they’ll accomplish the purpose of helping people create a life that works for them.
