Survival of the Species -Manifest from the Feelings
It all began with the sex talk. And then it was a video about kindness. Then after reading a book excerpt about distractions, I finally got it. I understood what survival was about.
We all get it when we get it. Last week, I got it on another level. Let me explain.
It is said that we are on earth to have experiences. So far, so good. We do things (have experiences) for the feelings they give us. Therefore, we are on earth for the feelings we desire.
And we get to choose those feelings. In fact, the feeling comes before the experience. Afterall, it’s a lot better to feel amorous and then act on it.
Enter the sex talk. I was asked how I would describe sex to a child. After thinking about it for a moment (after all, I’d explained it to my four kids when they were young), an image of a committee popped in. This committee was working with God. (This is my imagination in my head. Don’t get all in the weeds about God creating everything.)
Committee: You’ve created man and woman. Now, how do we help the species survive?
God: Procreation. Sex.
Committee: But why would someone do that? What’s their motivation?
God: Let’s make it feel good.
That was the extent of the visual. (Of course, there is more to it, but for the purposes of this blog, that’s all that is needed.)
The next day, I was watching a Simon Sinek video about kindness. He was talking about helping others because it feels good. This is a survival technique: helping each other. No one can do everything. When we help others, we release oxytocin, a chemical that helps us feel good.
My brain went ding, ding, ding. Survival and feeling good. I noticed the connection to the sex talk.
Later that day, I was reading an article about distractions. In short, the author talked about internal triggers, which flip a switch inside of us. “Warning. You are uncomfortable. Change. Look for a distraction!”
Again, it’s about moving toward feeling good. I thought about this and realized that when I get distracted, I’m looking to feel better. Think about when you are fidgeting in a chair. You are looking to feel better in some way.
What is the connection between these three experiences?
Survival is dependent on feeling good. Distractions are a way we, often unconsciously, try to feel better.
When we find ourselves not feeling good, we can choose what we would like to do in the next moment to feel better. The difference between feeling good and not can be as simple as a choice. What do you choose to do? How do you choose to feel?
Compare this with distractions, which often happen without conscious choice or out of habit. We find ourselves distracted and then get mad that we are distracted, and that mad feeling is the exact opposite of feeling good.
Of course, there are those things that you have to do, and don’t want to do. You have to survive it somehow. And what about not giving up your long-term goals for the short-term avoidance of feeling uncomfortable? What about that?
The clue is to find something that you like about what you are doing, whether it is something you want to do or have to do. Find some way to feel good, or at least better. This can be putting music on, thinking about what you are grateful for, or helping someone else. Find some way to feel good.
Maybe this is why the ease in the manifestation process is dependent on being high vibe (the feelings of peace, love, joy, gratitude, so such.) The higher your vibe is, the more ease you will have with manifesting. You are truly manifesting from your feelings.
And when you manifest from feeling good, you will find that you will be doing more than surviving. You’ll be living life as it was intended.
